- Which apps can open it?
- All of them. .ics is the format Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Calendar and everything else agree on — it is why an invitation from any of them opens in any other.
- What time zone is the event in?
- None: the time is written as a floating local time, so it shows at the hour you typed in whatever zone the reader is in. That is what you want for a dentist appointment and not what you want for a call across continents — for those, use the meeting planner to pick the hour first.
- Why is an all-day event one day longer in the file?
- Because the end date of an all-day event is exclusive in the spec. A one-day event ends the following morning, and this is written correctly so the event doesn't span two days in Outlook.
