What SafeShare looks for
- GPS location
- The single most sensitive thing a photo carries. A picture taken at home tells anyone who receives it where you live, to within a few metres.
- Device and software
- Camera make, model and editing software — enough to link separate photos to the same person.
- Timestamps
- Exactly when the photo was taken or the document created, down to the second.
- Author and document properties
- PDFs routinely embed the name of whoever wrote them, plus internal titles that can reveal more than the visible content.

Frequently asked questions
- Doesn't social media strip this already?
- Most large platforms do strip EXIF on upload. But email attachments, messaging apps, cloud links, marketplace listings and file transfers generally don't — and those are exactly the cases where you're sending to a specific person.
- Can KIVO blur faces or hide text?
- Not yet. SafeShare currently handles metadata — the invisible layer. For visible content, the Blur and Pixelate tools are the manual route.
- Is my file uploaded to check it?
- No. That would defeat the purpose entirely. Both the scan and the cleaning run in your browser.
